This site used to run on something called htmly.
And honestly, it was kind of charming. Very minimal. Very: “I live entirely in markdown and don’t believe in complications.” It worked well… but then i realised all my posts were a wall of text where i could instead also be showing off photos of my projects.
That’s when I discovered a hard truth: markdown and image management together behave a bit like two cats forced into the same carrier. Technically possible. Emotionally loud.
So, I’ve moved things over to WordPress.
Now WordPress is… a lot. I’ve tried it before over the years, and every time it felt like being handed the keys to a spaceship and told, “Don’t worry, it’s intuitive.” There are themes, plugins, widgets, dashboards, sub-dashboards, and probably a hidden room where settings go to retire.
That said, I do like it. There’s something fun about having a system where you can break things in twelve different ways but also fix them in thirteen. I’m looking forward to actually experimenting with themes and plugins properly this time, instead of doing my usual routine of clicking things until I feel mildly overwhelmed and then pretending it was “just a test.”
So yes, new platform, new setup, same blog.
For now, everything should be working, albeit some formatting issues with old posts, and I should no longer need to perform markdown gymnastics just to make a post look decent.
Welcome to the new home of “Vit’s Blog.”
It’s slightly more powerful, marginally more complicated, and hopefully still readable after I inevitably start tinkering with it at 2am for no reason whatsoever.
PS – Does it count as Schrödinger’s cat if I use this blog to document setting up this blog?
